Brown County? Wow, what a great weekend! As Ike came screaming up the Gulf through the Midwest, rain came down from every angle hard as bucket and as soft as a spring showers within seconds. It was a sight to see! As we prepared to go, we were all watching the weather station all week to decide whether to go two wheels or four. The call was made on Wednesday to four wheel it, (right choice).
It rained all the way down through Indianapolis. We stopped at West Laffiete HD for a pit stop. Rain. We stopped for lunch, rain. As we approached Brown County we got a little brake, we started to see Sun HooAH! We pulled in just before dinner, just about everybody was there. We had a really nice buffet at the Abe Martin Lodge. Prime Rib, that’s all I need to hear, Prime Rib I’m in!! After dinner we all hit the pool and hot tub, the hot tub was huge! As we sat in the tub and relaxed for a bit, we noticed the kids having such a great time on the water slide! WATER SLIDE here we come, well we closed the place, they kicked us out! What a great time laughing. Then we took our tired bodies and went to bed, after all it was 10:30 Saturday, Oh my gosh, the Sun was out and we all thought it was going to rain all day!
Some met for breakfast, we were scheduled to meet at 9am and head for Nashville? SHOOPPPPPPING the Ladies said and Shopping the guys said J. There were "Out House" Races, Antiques, things for pets, things for guys, things for gals, food, fresh fudge shops, fresh chocolate, a leather shop called "Pit Bull Leathers", we did not see Sara Palin, bummer, and great company with our brothers and sisters in Christ. It was so warm that you could not eat the Ice Cream cone fast enough as it dripped down your arm. Around 4:30 we went to dinner and had Mexican good, good, good.
After dinner we went for a ride down Rt138, what a beautiful road, it would have been nice to have two wheels. Winding roads with a forest on the right and pastures on the left, cows, bulls and buffalo, so cool. Off to "Story" Indiana, which has a town population of about 6. The general store was built in the early 1800’s and it look it. Oh did I say it was haunted! It was fun.
We called the lodge to see if we could have a bon fire, they said it would be ready for us when we got there. They had smores kits which were delicious. It was great to reflect on the day of how blessed we were. There was rain to the North, West and East but nothing but sunshine all day and stars at night with a nice breeze. I believe the Lord opened a window for us that day, Thanks Lord it was fantastic! We were enjoying the fire for a while when a family with little kids came. Did anyone say HOT TUB!!!! WATER SLIDE!!! Off we went.
Sunday, we all decided to go to a little church right outside the Brown County Park. It was called Parkview Church of the Nazarene. We all wore our Parkview Motorcycle Gear and were an instant hit. They were very friendly and welcoming. They invited us to a fish fry immediately following the service. We enjoyed great fellowship and wonderful cuizine. What a great end to a wonderful weekend. We want to give a special thank you to Roger Cerny for his route to the Abe Martin Lodge and back. To Dawn Yex for bringing snacks and Sunday Breakfast and to Sherry Koulouris for coordinating the Lodge and meal arrangements. A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
