The first PMC Overnight Trip in August 2007 destination Galena Illinois was fabulous! Our road captain LeRoy Schmidt mapped out our adventure to Galena and Andy Yex guided us home. The roads that we traveled were awesome, the weather going was overcast and a little rainy but that did not dampen our trip at all. We had 19 bikes, 3 cars and 37 persons on the ride. We left out of Cracker Barrel in Tinley Park at about 7:30a.m. and arrived at Stoney Creek Inn at around 4.

We stopped in Savanna, IL. for a buffet lunch and a little fellowship time to shop the quaint little town. The guys checked out the Old Saloon with real bullet holes in the ceiling from way back when, and the girls hit the antique and gift stores. It was nice to walk off all the food we ate at the buffet.

Back on the bikes and kickstands up by 12:30 on our way to Galena . The rain came when we arrived at Poopies, Yes Poopies! A few of us bought rain gear and on we went. The roads we traveled were hilly with lots of curves.

We arrived at Stoney Creek Inn at 4. They had "Welcome Parkview Motorcycle Club" signs at "Check in" and also on the room that we rented for fellowship and dinner. Stoney Creek Inn was lovely and very accommodating! They had us all checked in within 15 minutes, our reserved meeting room was ready with fresh hot coffee/tea, and the inn itself was like staying in a lodge. At that point we gave everyone 2 hours to do whatever they wanted. Some went into town to shop, others went to rest their weary bones in the hot tub and pool. We all met up at 6:30 for dinner. The Inn set up a buffet of chicken, pork, potatoes, corn, and salad, water and pop as beverages. Dawn Yex made homemade desserts that were so yummy and just perfect after the feast. After dinner there was more free time for fellowship. Some went into town, others played cards (Spades), and still others went swimming/hot tubbing or just sat around and talked. Laughter was abundant.

Sunday we had a continental breakfast and met for a small devotional provided by Dick Heberly at 8:30-9:00. We gave everyone free time until 10:30 where we met downtown Galena and started our adventure for home. We went in to Apple Canyon which was absolutely breath taking with winding roads and hills. God’s creation all around! The weather turned hot and balmy. We stopped for lunch at around 12 and headed for home at 1. At that point the group split into 2 groups – those wanting to go straight home and those taking the scenic route. The first group arrived home around 5:30, the second group around 7:30 and caught some rain.

All in All we were blessed without any accidents or mishaps, great leadership, great fellowship, and the promise of another trip next year! We hope all that attended enjoyed themselves, and those that did not will attend next year for our 2nd Annual PMC Overnighter.

Special Thanks go out to LeRoy Schmidt (Road Captain), Andy Yex (Road Captain), Leo Kolouris (Sweep), Sherry Kolouris (Accommodations), Don Hommes (Leader), Dawn Yex (Desserts), The Papendiks & Cernys for supplying water during our ride, Rompalas for supplying the games, and everyone else who participated in making this trip both safe and memorable.
