Annual PMC Biker Invitational

The 2008 Parkview MC Biker Invitational went off with almost no obstacles. We did have a little rain and got a little wet, but that didn’t stop us! We all soldiered on! Onward Christian Soldiers! It sprinkled on and off all morning and early afternoon. Every 15 to 20 minutes a few more riders would show. We had about 45 people register and 24 bikes make the run. At 1p.m., a decision had to be made. Do we stay or do we go? Leadership came together to decide, our main concern was safety! As we talked, we decided to ask the riders what they were looking to do. We brought everybody together for a show of hands, who still wants to ride? All but 2 said yes. Tim gave us a blessing and prayer, and off we went. Our route was adjusted to Wolf Road south to Front Street to Francis Road to Gouger, through Pilcher Park back to Gouger. At that point, we were going to head back but the weather was nice to we soldiered on; South on Gouger to Laraway (just as we crossed Rt30 the sky opened up L) east on Laraway to Wolf ( I meant to find out how many riders put on their rain gear besides me, anyway I was nice and dry) then we took Wolf south to PCC.

It was a great ride! Special thanks to Roger Cerney for a great job leading and to all that helped with the communications. When we returned back the food was all ready, pulled pork sandwiches mmmmmmmmmmmm. I had three! But, as I said earlier we had projected 150 people and had 45 so there was plenty. We sent the rest of the sandwiches to Restoration Ministries in Harvey . Our very own Jim Popp and the Bullitt Proof Lizards played for about an hour. What a great job! (man are they good) They played some songs we knew and some of their originals…very, very cool. When you see Jim Popp say thanks…Oh by the way…mention to him that it would be great to see the Bullitt Proof Lizards next year! J Dean Metcalf gave a moving testimony. As I watched, I could see that he had everybody’s undivided attention. Thanks for sharing Dean and a big thanks to Ali for hanging in there with Dean. We finished around 4:20. What was neat is that most of the riders stayed for the whole event. After service we (PMC) collected all our stuff, packed up, and went out for ICE CREAM (What a great finish to a truly wonderful day).

The Biker Invitational is our way of saying “thanks” to all of you who have helped PMC throughout the year. We want to give something back to you, the community of people who support us. Because without your tireless help and support we would not be able to accomplish our goals each year. It’s an event, a time to uncover your bike from a long winter’s rest, a time to renew old friendships, a time to challenge yourself and ask how I can make a difference.
